Happy Lao New Year and Songkran Festivities in Oakland May 8, 2019 1 min read Updated: Sep 4, 2019 May 2, 2019 What a week it has been. The weather has been so incredibly nice. It seems like all my flowers are in full bloom.
I just want to stay outside all day! This past weekend we were at the Thai, Lao, Myanmar, and Cambodian New Year Celebration at Jack London Square in Oakland. This was the first year of the event and it was a marvelous time. Thank you to Chef Kasem of Farmhouse Kitchen for putting on such a wonderful event that brought the community together.
We did not get a chance to try the Lao table, but hope to catch it next time. We did however, get some delicious fried bananas from Kanom Thai booth. We really wanted to try the papaya platter from LOL, but the line was too long and there were many other booths to try with the little time we had.
Soon I will be posting a 360 video and a 180 video of the event. It was our first time at the event using our new camera, so I hope we got some good footage to share with you all. I will post it here on this blog when it is ready. Overall, the trip to Oakland was a great time. We enjoyed good food, and it was a great community gathering, and not to mention a wonderful ocean breeze.
We look forward to going back again very soon. My only regret is I did not get some macarons from Miette. But I managed to get kao thom and some other yummy snacks from the Asian markets. Until next time, Peace, Love, & Tamarind!
